The Making of a Great Monday
Yes, I know….
But, I’m also serious. MONDAYS CAN BE GREAT!
Here’s a few things that help me:
BEGIN a great Monday on SUNDAY!
Yep, you got to do some prep work to truly enjoy Monday. For one thing, attend (and if at all possible, SERVE) a church that you love! Get there early, interact with others, worship your God, take notes on the message and leave thankful! I love our church!
Then, later that day, get a Monday plan going. Make a plan for good sleep, maybe some morning fitness or a walk… then, plan to eat some breakfast and enjoy a good cup of coffee (ahhh, it’s already sounding better)… then, be sure to plan some alone time with Jesus (beyond your commute). PLAN for all of this! Set reminders and then set your alarm.
New Year’s is a great time to launch new disciplines.
GET UP PRAISING!
Before your warm toes hit the cold floor, start telling Jesus that you’re thankful and ready to spend the day with Him! Pray your way through your morning routines. BE NICE TO EVERYONE (family, spouse, dog … even the cat… maybe)!
This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
Have “REFOCUS” on REPEAT!
Say this with me, “Today is NOT about ME!”
Repeat, “Today is NOT about ME!” — write this on post-it notes and put them on your mirror, desk, refrigerator, dashboard, etc. Try to count how many times you have to tell yourself this FACT! You’ll eventually be embarrassed at yourself and begin to laugh as you move on from YOU!
Friends, when we make it our point to encourage others, we will be encouraged ourselves. Choose to see the BEST in others, give the benefit of the doubt when it becomes difficult and in those really tough places, SMILE through the trial. Tap into the JOY that comes from knowing Christ!
Find a WIN!
Have you have watched one of those Alaskan gold mining shows?? I get sucked into them every now & then…. it’s amazing the lengths these people go, each and every day, for just a few ounces of gold! We need to MINE for the GOLD in other people! Learn to see even the smallest speck of improvement and give it value and celebration!
Think about it… God does this IN us!

Repeat this process EVERY week until it becomes a habit!
